Becoming More Thankful

Becoming More Thankful

Everyone, at some point in November, takes a second to express thanks for something. Many families have traditions of doing it around the Thanksgiving feast. Sermons often revolve around it, journals prompt you to write about it, and even shows on television push the idea of

“Giving Thanks.”

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE this idea! I think only great things can come from living a more thankful life. My issue is it doesn’t seem to last long. Life has a way of taking over. We get busy, depressed, anxious, and stressed. The idea of living “thankfully” goes out the window, and we get bogged down in negative worries and struggles.

I’d like to improve myself this year.

I’d like to be more thankful year round. I think it would make me a happier more uplifted person. I think becoming more thankful causes a domino effect of lowering overall stress and anxiety too. But how do I do it?

I honestly don’t have a great answer. I’ve seen some great ideas. People who spend the month listing something they are thankful for every day on social media. Some who journal keep actual gratitude journals that focus on that topic solely. Maybe I could pair up with a gratitude buddy. Someone who could remind me to be thankful when they spot me falling into old negative habits.

I’m using my November blog post to ask for ideas on becoming a more thankful person. I need more ideas to chose from because the ones I’ve tried start strong but fade along with my thankful attitude. Tell me what you do that works. I need to pick something that fits into my life naturally so that I will continue to do it. So hit me with all your ideas. Comment below or go over to my Facebook or Instagram posts and add them there. I will start first and say how thankful I am for all of your love and support! I can’t wait to hear all about how you stay thankful!
